AMC’s CEO criticized Robinhood’s tokenized stock offerings for lacking regulation in the US and promised to initiate an investigation from an external securities counsel.

Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Entertainment Holdings, stated that Robinhood’s tokenized stock offerings, which provide economic exposure to AMC shares, are "outrageous" with no affiliation to AMC. He added that the company will request a formal inquiry.

These stocks may not be accessible to US investors and are subject to restrictions in several other jurisdictions like Canada, Switzerland, and the UK. Aron’s remarks echo recent criticism targeting tokenized stocks, following crypto exchanges canceling SpaceX IPO allocations due to delivery issues.

Robinhood co-founder Vlad Tenev responded on X, asking Aron to specify his concerns regarding the tokenized offering. Cointelegraph has reached out to Robinhood for further comment on the matter and the regulatory status of their offerings.

The first generation of Robinhood stock tokens launched in July 2026 as ERC-20 tokens, and in February, Robinhood unveiled a public testnet for its Ethereum layer-2 network, Robinhood Chain. The company aims to tokenize nearly 500 US stocks and ETFs on Arbitrum.
