Blockchain.com pursues CFTC approval for prediction markets: CNBC

  • Published: Oct 9, 2026

The crypto company has reportedly applied for two licenses with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for event contracts and crypto derivatives offerings. This move comes as legal cases surrounding prediction market platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket make their way through US courts.

Blockchain.com announced plans to partner with Polymarket for prediction markets integration in July, but a direct license from the CFTC would allow them to offer their own platform.

CFTC Chair Michael Selig has advocated for rulemaking over legislation regarding cryptocurrency regulation, citing the FTX collapse as an example of the need for oversight. He claims the proposed rules would prevent "theft of customer funds."
