A crypto-backed Political Action Committee (PAC), Fairshake, is scaling back its ad spending in the Massachusetts primary, marking its latest attempt to influence elections with funds from the cryptocurrency industry.
The Protect Progress PAC, an affiliate of Fairshake, spent just over $189,000 on media to support Representative Jake Auchincloss’ reelection campaign in the state’s 4th congressional district. Some of these funds were used for "AI-generated slop mailers" ahead of the primary, according to Democratic candidate Jason Poulos.
Poulos accused Auchincloss of accepting $77,500 directly from "crypto-industry sources" since 2020, citing his vote for the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in July 2025.
This spending comes after Fairshake and its affiliates spent approximately $3.6 million on House and Senate races in Alaska, Florida, and Wyoming in August. With over $122 million cash on hand, Fairshake has stated its intention to continue influencing the 2026 midterm elections.
Massachusetts holds its primary later this month, with general elections scheduled for November.
