Crypto must cement adoption to withstand US policy shifts: Canton CEO

Canton CEO Yuval Rooz compared blockchain adoption to Uber and Airbnb, arguing that widespread adoption could protect it from future policy reversals.
Digital Asset co-founder and CEO Yuval Rooz stated that the crypto industry should leverage the current regulatory environment to accelerate institutional adoption, suggesting that widespread blockchain use could make it difficult for administrations to reverse industry progress in the future.
Speaking at Token2049 in Singapore, Rooz emphasized the need for the industry to make blockchain so ubiquitous that, by 2028, “there is no going back.” This comment refers to the upcoming US presidential election scheduled for November 7, 2028, which could lead to a change in administration and regulatory priorities.
He drew a parallel to Uber and Airbnb, where regulations came too late after these services had already become established.
"By the time people got their act together and decided, OK, we wanna legislate against those companies, it was too late." – Yuval Rooz
These remarks follow the failure of the CLARITY Act to advance in the Senate procedural vote in September. While the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) have continued to push forward with crypto regulations under their existing authorities.
