Article Details:
Democrats are pushing back on the GOP’s ‘final’ CLARITY Act offer with a counterproposal, as reported by Politico. Despite Republican lawmakers stating that this is their last attempt, Democrats remain dissatisfied with the crypto ethics provisions and plan to submit their counterproposal just hours before a crucial procedural vote in the Senate.
According to Politico, Senate Democrats met in the office of Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Monday to discuss their strategy. Senator Mark Warner confirmed that some Democrats are still concerned about the crypto ethics language in the latest revised CLARITY Act text.
The counterproposal comes ahead of a Senate procedural vote scheduled for Tuesday, which will decide whether the bill can advance towards floor consideration.
