HSBC, Ant Digital test AI-agent payments using tokenized deposits

HSBC Tests AI-Powered Payments With Blockchain Deposits

HSBC and Ant Digital have conducted a technical trial, demonstrating how AI agents could utilize tokenized deposits for accessing digital services and making micropayments. The test integrated HSBC's Tokenized Deposit Service with Ant Digital's Anvita Flow network and Jovay Testnet, a layer-2 blockchain testing environment.

The collaboration enabled real-time settlement and risk checks, with transactions settling instantly on the blockchain testnet. AI agents were able to discover services and complete payments, typically under $2. However, it's important to note that this was a technical verification and not a commercial launch.
