A scammer reportedly lost $4.8 million of stolen funds after storing them on tampered Ledgers. Major irony alert! A scammer fell victim to a Ledger supply chain attack, losing 60 Bitcoin (worth approximately $4.8 million) from three newly purchased Ledgers infected with spyware that recorded seed phrases. The thieves drained all three affected wallets into the same wallet.

Despite Ledger suspending its reseller network across Southeast Asia due to similar thefts, the company claims all confirmed cases are from Asia. They have asked resellers in Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Hong Kong to remove Ledgers from sale. Trezor has also taken precautions by shutting down some of its more distant resellers.

In response to this hardware wallet scandal, Ledger launched its latest device, the Atom, which combines a crypto wallet with Android apps, promising enhanced security features to prevent tampering.
