According to Liu, in a Friday X post, the event was postponed to "comply with local requirements" after pre-registration numbers exceeded the cap set by authorities. Earlier that day, X users claimed the event was abruptly suspended due to the presence of law enforcement officers at the venue.
Context:
The Shanghai event was to open Solana’s four-city Accelerate China tour, following Hangzhou, Shenzhen, and Beijing.
Background:
A similar situation occurred in October 2025 with a Solana event in Shenzhen, which was cut short due to venue capacity and public-safety concerns.
China's Crypto Landscape:
China prohibits various crypto-related services, including token fundraising, trading, and mining. The People’s Bank of China and seven other agencies further tightened these restrictions in February with a notice that included bans on unauthorized issuance of yuan-pegged stablecoins.
