Standard Chartered has expanded Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) trading to wealthy clients in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), catering specifically to professional investors.
Announced on Wednesday, this development allows eligible investors to trade these assets within their existing Standard Chartered bank accounts.
Eligibility criteria include possessing at least 4 million dirhams (approximately $1.1 million) in net assets, excluding main residence, and demonstrating sufficient investment knowledge or representation by a licensed entity.
Digital assets are gaining mainstream traction, and Standard Chartered aims to provide its clients with the "security, trust, and confidence" associated with regulated institutions.
This move follows Standard Chartered's launch of UAE crypto trading services for institutional clients in early September.
The region is witnessing a surge in crypto adoption, with companies like Kraken and Revolut also expanding their digital asset offerings.
