The layer-1 blockchain achieved a new milestone during a live stress test designed to mimic high-frequency activity between AI agents: its programmable offchain tunnels processed over 40 million transactions per second (TPS).

This surpasses a previous record set in July. The recent test, conducted at Sui Basecamp in Singapore, peaked at 40,614,180 TPS, up from approximately 6.1 million TPS during the prior test.

Over 10,000 tunnels were opened on the Sui mainnet during the test, facilitating transactions across various applications, including payments, games, and chat.

Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and chief product officer at Mysten Labs (the original contributor to Sui), stated:

“No market in the world needs 6 million transactions per second, let alone 40 million: people just don’t move that fast. Agents do.”

An independent audit by CertiK is currently underway, with a report anticipated soon.
