Bitcoin price threatens $77.7K support loss with recent buyers underwater
Markets
Published: Nov 3, 2026
Bitcoin (BTC) is facing a critical test as it approaches $77,700, a level that could flip from support to resistance for recent buyers.
Key points:
- Bitcoin fell below $77,700, its realized price for buyers from one to three months ago, potentially turning it into new resistance.
- Profitability data highlights a support zone at $68,400, representing a 12% net loss for these buyers.
- Short-term Bitcoin holders are at risk of slipping into a net loss, with their cost basis at $75,832.
Data from CryptoQuant reveals that BTC/USD is currently trading below the realized price of investors who entered the market 1-3 months ago, classified as speculative traders. This cost basis historically acted as support during Bitcoin bull markets but could now become resistance.
“When BTC falls below this level, however, the same cost basis can later act as resistance as underwater traders use a return to breakeven as an opportunity to exit,” a CryptoQuant contributor noted.
With the Trader Onchain Realized Price Bands metric at $77,700, the gap between price and cost basis has narrowed significantly.
BTC/USD fell below the Trader Onchain Realized Price after trading above it since Aug 19. Below $77,000, it also approaches the realized price of short-term holders (STHs), another support level during uptrends that could become resistance during downtrends.
