News Article:

Trezor has urged customers who bought its hardware wallets from former authorized reseller CryptoBilis since March to move their funds after a report of a suspected implant in a Safe 5 device.

According to a customer report from Indonesia, an unauthorized circuit board was discovered inside a Trezor Safe 5 purchased on Tokopedia in August. This implant allegedly has the capability to capture sensitive information displayed on the device's screen, such as recovery phrases, and transmit it over a cellular network.

Trezor, in a statement on October 30th, acknowledged the report as credible, stating, “We haven’t had the device in our lab yet, but we’re treating the report as credible, and we’d rather warn people now than wait for confirmation and find out someone lost their funds in the meantime.”

The company emphasized that sales through CryptoBilis were "very small" but declined to provide specific figures. Trezor is currently investigating the incident and reviewing its hardware protections, recognizing that existing measures like seals and packaging are not sufficient.

This warning comes on the heels of reports of crypto losses involving Ledger wallets sold through CryptoBilis, as well as previous warnings from Trezor regarding tampered wallets sold through unauthorized sellers on social media platforms.
